POSITION SUMMARY: Provide leadership, direction and support for the operating teams in the warehouse with a focus on safety. Manage and control resources to ensure quality handling, storage and shipping, to maximize customer service levels, control operational costs and pursue efficiency and productivity improvements. Manage the demands of service and cost, and production and customer service. Implement programs that engage associates and allow the five principles to be practiced. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Area Manager - Manage the efforts of operating teams in the efficient warehousing of finished goods products in a safe, secure and sanitary manner. Change Agent - Recommend and implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organizations as needed to assure that the objectives are met. Associate Advocacy - Proactively manage associate relations issues and guide and direct the hiring, training, retraining, development and motivation of Warehouse Operations associates following the principles of self managed teams. Goal Setting and Measurement - Through Warehouse Operations teams, establish performance standards and goals; measure, control, take corrective action and report results as appropriate in all areas of responsibility. Troubleshooting - Responsible for analyzing area performance and managing the daily activities and resources, with the objective of achieving desired performance levels. Communications - Ensure that open communications are established and that opportunities to broaden the scope and responsibility of Warehouse Operations teams/associates are undertaken. Operations Strategy - Participate with the Operations manager and other Operations associates in the implementation of improvement strategies that will help the Operations function perform more effectively. Associate Development - Evaluate associate performance and development in conjunction with associate's plans to develop their potential. Personal Development - Keep abreast of managerial and technical competencies both within and outside the company
