Job Summary
Under technical direction, responsible for compliance-related components of internal controls, such as, regulations, data quality, process design and communication for an assigned area. This position is responsible for performing an initial analysis of annuity contracts, structured settlement agreements, various court documents and other contractual agreements related to our payout business. When necessary, this person will also facilitate a second review by our legal counsel, either internally or externally, and communicate decisions within the operations area. Secondly, this position will need to keep current with applicable tax and regulatory laws that may impact our business and again communicate these within the operations teams. Thirdly, this person will be responsible for performing and/or facilitating benefit quotes based upon what is contractually available. Lastly, additional projects and work may be completed as necessary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Partners and liases with other departments, such as, Internal Audit, IT and Legal, to build relationships supporting compliance accountabilities.
2. Prepares compliance reports for management and coordinates benefit quotes
3. Develops compliance related training tools and programs for the department.
4. Provides compliance or technical subject matter support for business or corporate strategic initiatives.
6. Stays current on industry trends and developments through interaction with insurance departments and other regulatory bodies such as tax laws and regulations.
7. Coordinates and advises both in home office and India
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Manager or above
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Strong knowledge of insurance principles, practices and procedures.
2. Strong understanding of process development and process improvement techniques and methodologies.
3. Strong understanding of project management practices and procedures.
4. Solid communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
6. Ability to recognize ambiguous situations and issues. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software systems.
8. Ability to travel.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of three to four years multi-jurisdictional experience.
