Software Engineer WI2682- due 11/8/2009 Primary Skill Required:Software EngineerDuration Estimate: 1 yearResumes Due: 11/8/2009Rate Max: 45/hrWork location: Madison Job Description: Designs, modifies, develops,writes and implements software programming applications, including softwareinfrastructure and development tools. Supports and/or installs softwareapplications, infrastructure and development tools. Participates in the testingprocess through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification ofsoftware. Software Engineer capabilities with 4-7 years of experience, relieson experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety ofcomplicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Overview This position willparticipate in a team to implement a new version of the Proficiency Testingsystem used at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. The systemconsists of the following subsystems: Enrollment Ordering Shipping Result Entry - Manual andOnline Scoring Reporting Agency Reporting The system will beimplemented as a set of internal and external Web applications and servicesrunning on the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) with an Oracle backend. We areseeking a highly skilled Java Web developer (Groovy and Grails experience aplus) who has strong communication and team-based, agile development skills. Qualifications 1) Design patterns: Have knowledge of and have used common design patterns likeMVC in the creation of data driven Web applications. 2) Team: Worked as part of a team (more than 2 people preferably) to developweb applications. 3) Source Control: Used subversion or some similar source code control systemwithin a team development environment. 4) Oracle: Understand and can demonstrate relational database concepts andcomfortable with SQL. 5) Build Tools/Continuous Integration (CI): Experience with Ant or Gant and daily(or more frequent preferably) builds via an automated build tool like CruiseControl or Hudson . 6) Rails/Grails: Experience with convention-oriented frameworks. 7) Unit Testing: Comfortable with creating (and preferably automating) unit tests. 8) Servlet: Understand response/request cycles. 9) Groovy: Experience with groovy or ruby or python or other dynamic languages. 10) Hibernate:Experience with Hibernate or other ORM tools. Experience with GORM is aplus. 11) Test-drivendevelopment: Experience with test driven development. 12) Ajax :Experience using Ajax frameworks to create rich Web interfaces (dojo, yui, prototype, etc).
