J.P. Morgan's Global Special Opportunities Group (GSOG) is a proprietary investing group focused on principal investment and private equity opportunities. The mandate of the group is broad allowing for investment across the entire capital structure with a particular focus on the Impaired Assets business. The group was formed in 2005 taking forward the heritage J.P. Morgan Asia Loans and Distressed business with an expanded proprietary capital mandate. In Asia, GSOG has three strategies: Real Estate, Impaired Assets and Principal Finance. Job Function/Responsibilities Member of the Impaired Assets Team (IA) within GSOG
Reports to senior member in IA team based in HK
Main focus is Japan and then rest of North Asia (including Korea and Greater China and Taiwan)
Based in Hong Kong initially but will be spending significant time in target countries (eventually, the incumbent will be based in Japan)
IA Strategy covers distressed/stressed, rescue/recap financing, bankruptcy sponsorship type of opportunities, with views expressed across capital structure and via public/private instruments to achieve asymmetric risk reward
Assist in developing market strategy, idea generation, sourcing, fundamental and credit analysis, building models, monitoring, managing exits and hedging
