We have an excellent underwriting opportunity available. As an Underwriter you will work to manage assigned accounts, select profitable risks and build a profitable portfolio of accounts. Responsibilities: While working through agents and brokers, prepares proposals for policyholders and prospects whose premium and premium equivalency are between $75K - $1.5 million.
Reviews assigned accounts prior to proposal in Unit Strategy Session. Works closely with Sales to determine the needs of the customer.
Evaluates and recommends plan alternatives and coverages within scope of position's Letter of Authority and negotiates pricing and coverage programs with Sales/Brokers.
Participates in Team Meetings and Customer/Broker meetings as required.
Ensures that all filings, agreements, security, and other necessary backup functions are completed.
Maintains and reports on profitability of assigned accounts, assures timely completion of all Tracking Reports.
Acts as mentor to newly-hired underwriters.
Continues self-improvement through in-house training and external industry-related courses (CPCU - Advanced Degrees).
