Description:
PEAK6 is looking for a strong Ruby on Rails Developer to help build and maintain the online businesses and their websites.
Job Requirements:
7+ years web-related programming experience, including the development of front-end and back-end software for web application
2+ years professional programming experience with Ruby on Rails on an n-tiered production deployed product
Believes in testing their code
Has felt the need to refactor something before
Has a passion for building good user experiences
Demonstrated experience/knowledge building high-volume and consumer facing database-driven web applications
Experience with MVC architectures, XML/JSON and RESTful APIs, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and Ajax
Proficiency with cross-browser, cross-platform issues, and web standards
Familiarity with progressive-enhancement/unobtrusive javascript techniques
Experience with javascript frameworks, but a strong understanding of native methods as well
Knowledge of Javascript design patterns
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases and design
Experience working in Unix environments (command line on Mac OS X and Linux) while also comfortable verifying your work in Windows client
Competent and knowledgeable technical design skills
Must have excellent problem solving skills and enjoy a good challenge
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Open source experience/development is a major plus
Experience working with social network data portability protocols like Facebook Connect, MySpace Data Availability, OpenSocial, etc.
Experience developing social network applications
More senior candidates should have a C++, J2EE or similar background and design / architecture experience
Proficiency in envelope-pushing CSS-driven web design
Full cycle experience including analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, roll out, etc
Strong individual contribution and good in a team/collaborative environment
Like to explore new technologies and specs, taking initiative to implement prototypes
Experience with Amazon Web Services and related technologies is a big plus (EC2, EBS, S3, AppEngine, Capistrano, etc.)
A B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science or Engineering is desirable.
